Nura means light in Hausa, one of the principal languages of northern Nigeria. It illuminates what is there.

A meridian is the fixed line of longitude a navigator measures against to establish position. It tells you where you stand in relation to what is there.

The fix
A fix is a position established by measurement against something fixed, recorded with the time it was taken, and open to correction by the next sighting. Every record NURA holds is built to that standard.

A dual United States and Nigerian citizen, trained in finance and real estate at the University of Georgia. He began as a credit analyst at the Atlanta headquarters of Ameris Bank, underwriting and pricing risk in construction lending. In Nigeria he has worked across the power sector, on the generation side at a hydroelectric generation company and on the distribution side at Transgrid Enerco. He is based in Abuja.

For more than a decade he has architected production systems in cloud, distributed computing, data and artificial intelligence for federal agencies, Fortune 100 companies and global brands, among them the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Microsoft, Colgate-Palmolive and Warner Media. He designed, built and operated a 1 to 2 MW high-density computing facility in Columbus, Georgia, converted from an industrial warehouse, working directly with the local utility on service and interconnection, and has sourced equipment directly across the global supply chain.

Nura means light in Hausa, one of the principal languages of northern Nigeria. A meridian is the fixed line of longitude a navigator measures against to establish position. The two names describe the same task from opposite ends. One illuminates what is there. The other tells you where you stand in relation to it.
An investor considering Nigeria is usually working without both. The information is dark, in the sense that it exists but has never been assembled, verified or made comparable. And there is no fixed line to measure against, no agreed standard by which one Nigerian company, sector or transaction can be judged against another or against a global precedent. Capital responds to that condition the way it always does. It prices the uncertainty rather than the asset.
The mark holds the same idea. Africa sits inside a measuring instrument, because the continent is not the thing in question. What is in question is whether anything about it has been measured properly.
A navigator's fix is the working method behind all of it. A fix is a position established by measurement against something fixed, recorded with the time it was taken, and open to correction by the next sighting. It is not an estimate narrowed by confidence. Every record in the evidence base is held to that standard, which is why each one carries its source, its credibility tier, its corroboration and any conflict it could not resolve. Where official figures disagree, the disagreement is printed rather than settled quietly.
